Alda Sylvia Behrens

Alda Sylvia Behrens was born January 30, 1930 in Kragero Township, Chippewa County Minnesota, the daughter of Selmer and Alice (Falmo) Berge.  She was baptized and confirmed at Kvitseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Alda was raised in rural Milan and graduated from Milan High School in 1948.  On June 8, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold Henry Behrens at Kvitseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  This union was blessed with 31 years together and two sons: Jim and Bruce.

Alda and Harold moved to Appleton after their wedding, where they raised their family.  Over the years Alda worked as a bookkeeper at The Flower Shoppe and was a “lunch lady” at the school.  She and Harold joined Trinity Lutheran Church where they were active with various roles.  One of Alda’s favorite pastimes was playing Bridge with her many friends.  Above all, Alda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alda passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in the St. Cloud Hospital, at the age of 86 years.  She is survived by her sons: Jim (Karen) Behrens of Milbank, SD and Bruce (Nicole) Behrens of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren: Kerri (Jeremy) Heim, Andrew Behrens, Chase Behrens, William Behrens; great-grandchildren: Arden, Korben, Lily and Jasmine Heim; sisters-in-law: Evie Ross, Mavis Berge, and Lois Berge, all of Montevideo; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Alda was preceded in death by her husband, Harold on June 8, 1979; parents, Selmer and Alice Berge; parents-in-law, Ernest and Bertha Behrens; brothers: Wallace and Walter Berge; and brother-in-law, Jerry Ross.
