Emily Clara Munstermann

Emily Clara Munstermann was born August 8, 1919, in Shible Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry F. and Clara (Mumme) Koosmann. She was baptized September 7, 1919 and was confirmed April 9, 1933, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church –Shible Township. Emily attended Christian day school at Immanuel Lutheran Church –Shible Township through the Eighth grade. On October 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Elmer Munstermann. This union was blessed with over 54 years together and seven sons: Leonard, Wayne, Kenneth, James, Bruce, Glenn, and Stanley.

Emily and Elmer farmed in the Trimont, Minnesota area for five years before moving to the Correll area, where they lived, farmed, and raised their family until their retirement in 1982, when they moved to Appleton. Emily was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years! She had many fond memories of the many pupils that she taught. Emily was a member of the Immanuel LWML and the church choir. She was a charter member of the Homemaker’s Club and was Secretary of the Appleton V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Emily enjoyed music, gardening, flowers, and knitting. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Emily passed away March 9, 2016 in Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center. She attained 96 years, 7 months, and 1 day of age. She is survived by her children: Leonard (Heidi) Munstermann of Hamden, CT, Kenneth (Fawn) Munstermann of Fayetteville, AR, James Munstermann of Soldotna, AK, Bruce Munstermann of Shakopee, MN, Glenn (Beverly) Munstermann of Pineville, MO, and Stanley Munstermann of Dawson, MN; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Renetta Schlieman, Verna Quandt, Evelyn Giese and Ellen Munsterman; brothers-in-law, Albert, Ronald, and Adolph Munsterman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Munstermann on January 24, 1995; son, Wayne Munstermann on April 24, 1974; parents, Henry R. and Clara Koosmann; brother, Arthur (Marlys) Koosmann; sisters: Bertha (Ewald) Nohrenberg, Amanda (Clarence) Johnson, Ida (Gerhardt) Steinke; brothers-in-law: Walter (Mabel) Munsterman, Melvin Munsterman, Manville Schlieman, Donald Quandt, Ray Giese; sisters-in-law Bertha (Bill) Harste, Vivilor Munsterman, Vivilor Munsterman.
