Willard Chauncey “Bill” Knutson was born on January 28, 1922 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Emma (Olson) Knutson. He was baptized on April 30, 1922 and confirmed on December 16, 1955 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Bill lived most of his whole life in the family home on 13th Street North. After graduating from Benson High School on May 28, 1942, he worked one year for Burlington Railroad, 12 years at Ladds Hatchery, hauled gravel for one year at Anderson Ready Mix, worked 34 years at Dokken Machine, and then worked at the Benson Golf Course from 1989 – 1992 and again from 2004 – 2006. Among the things he enjoyed were fishing, trapping, playing games with his nieces and nephews, and driving around and visiting with people. Bill moved to Golden Living Center – Meadow Lane in August of 2012 and was called from this life on Monday, February 15, 2016. He attained the age of 94 years and 17 days.
Bill is survived by his sister, Alvina (Arnold) Maus of Benson; sisters-in-law, Doris Wiebold and Clara Wiebold; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Inez Johnson, Mildred Klyver, Chester Knutson, Carl Knutson, Viola Hokana, an infant sister, Richard Wiebold, Alvie Wiebold, and Louis Wiebold.
