Francis Edward Razink was born December 28, 1925 in Moore Township, Stevens County, Minnesota, the son of Edward Sr. and Ann (Schultz) Razink. He was baptized at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf on February 28, 1926, by Fr. Lynch. Frank was confirmed at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church by Fr. Richard King and later in life he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson on July 10, 1955, by Rev. Herbert T. Wians.
Frank was raised in the Hancock and Clontarf areas. He attended rural schools in Stevens County until the Eighth Grade. On June 12, 1947 Frank was united in marriage to Marcella Schliep at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, SD, by Rev. Reuben A. Wangberg. This union was blessed with 68 years together and seven children.
Frank owned and operated Razink Gravel with his wife Marcella for 67 years. He also farmed and hauled livestock for area farmers. In 1987, Frank semi-retired. Frank loved horses and was known to ride bare back in his younger years. He and Marcella have many fond memories from their years with the Happy Hoofers Saddle Club. Frank also developed a love of fishing in later years, both winter and summer.
Frank passed away on January 29, 2016 in Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. He attained 90 years, 1 month, and 1 day of age. He is survived by his wife, Marcella of Benson; children: William (Peggy) Razink of Clontarf, Donna (Curtis) Longhenry of Nassau, Annette (James) Pfeifer of Clontarf, James (Lori) Razink of Clontarf, Dennis (Wendi) Razink of Clontarf; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren (plus baby Hauge due in August); siblings: Patricia (Duane) Johnson of Ocala, FL, Duane (Judy) Razink of Dunnallon, FL, Eyvonne Thielke of Hancock, Edward Jr. (Mary) Razink of Clontarf, Thomas (Shirley) Razink of Clontarf, Diane (Sherman) Edmonds of Hancock; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; two infant daughters; sister, Delores Brown; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; three nieces, and one nephew.
