Harry Kenneth “Ken” Bredeken, age 89, of Benson, passed away Friday morning, January, 29, 2016 at the Gabriel House in Murdock, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.
H. Kenneth “Ken” Bredeken was born at the Minnewaska Hospital in Starbuck, Minnesota on January 3, 1927, the son of Harry Clarence and JoHannah Marie (Carlson) Bredeken. He was baptized at home on June 12, 1927 by Rev. D. J. Becker in a church tent meeting. In April of 1941, he was confirmed by Rev. Fahl. Kenneth grew up on a farm in Rolling Forks Township in Pope County and attended Dist. #38 country school.
Kenneth farmed at home until the age of 22. He then worked various farm, ranch and carpentry jobs in Washington, Montana, and Wyoming, before moving back to Minnesota. At age 38, Kenneth started working for the MN D.N.R. Forestry until his retirement at age 65. He was a member of the Sportsman Club, Isanti County Law Enforcement, and N.R.A. Among the many things Kenneth enjoyed were trapping, hunting, fishing, skating, and skiing.
Kenneth is survived by his special friend, Carol Lundebrek of Benson; his siblings: Ronald (Dorothy) Bredeken of Elk River, Richard (Janet) Bredeken of Starbuck; brother-in-law, Jack Rummel of Boise, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two older sisters: Harriet Graves and Irene Rummel; and brother-in-law, Norman Graves.
