Jay Charles Johnson was born March 8, 1956 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Clifford H. and Helen (Brown) Johnson. He was baptized on May 17, 1956 by Rev. Clifford H. Nelson and was confirmed on May 2, 1971 by Rev. Magnus A. Peterson, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Jay was raised in the Appleton area and graduated from Appleton High School in 1974.
On August 22, 1987 Jay was united in marriage to Terry Jean Albright, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, by Rev. Henry V. Buchholz. This union was blessed with 28 years together and a wonderful daughter, Katie. Jay was a lifetime resident of the Appleton area. Over the years, he had worked at various jobs in the area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and driving around the country. He devoted his life to taking care of his family…going above and beyond the duties of a husband and father and he did it selflessly. Anyone that knows Jay, knows how big his heart was. More than anything, Jay loved his girls and cherished spending time with them, never missing an opportunity to tell them “I love you”...that is what we will remember and will forever miss.
Jay passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2015 in Chippewa County – Montevideo Hospital. He attained 59 years, 8 months, and 10 days of age. Jay is survived by his wife, Terry of Appleton; daughter, Katie (significant other, Macaulay Lambert) of Starbuck; sister, Julie Nilson of Dawson; Aunt Irene Johnson of Shakopee; sisters-in-law: Pamela Johnson of CA, Vickie (Mark) Brustuen of Holloway, Brenda Munsterman of Willmar, Kim (David) Thompson of Milan; parents-in-law, Joyce and DuWayne Suckow of Appleton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford H. and Helen Johnson; grandparents; brother, Clifton Johnson of CA; father-in-law, Henry Albright; numerous aunts and uncles.
Blessed be the memory of Jay Charles Johnson.
