Orville Ole Brustuen was born May 20, 1935, on his home farm, in Hegbert Township, Swift County, Minnesota, to parents Ole Edward and Verna Emma (Arndt) Brustuen. He was baptized on June 5, 1935, by Rev. Sandager at Long Lake Lutheran Church. On June 11, 1950, Orville was confirmed by Rev. William Peterson, at Drywood Lutheran Church. He was raised in the Appleton area, and graduated from Appleton High School in 1953. On March 14, 1954, Orville was united in marriage to Koreen Boe, by Rev. William Peterson, at Drywood Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with over 61 years of marriage and three children: Rodney, Mark, and Koni. He and Koreen made their home north of Appleton, where they farmed from 1954 to 1998. The couple moved to Appleton in 1984, after a house fire, but Orville kept farming until 1998. Orville was a DeKalb Seed Dealer for many yearswhich allowed him to win many awards and trips. During the winter months in the 1970's, he worked as a welder for Tyler's in Benson. Orville was a member of the Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and Bridge Club. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching sports on TV. Orville loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He found great satisfaction in attending sporting events and other activities that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. Orville died October 29, 2015, in Madison Lutheran Home. He attained 80 years, 5 months, and 9 days of age. Orville is survived by his wife, Koreen of Appleton; children: Rodney (Jeanne) Brustuen of Pine Island, Mark (Vickie) Brustuen of Holloway, Koni (Jerry Reese) Swenson of Owatonna; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Lori) Brustuen of Lake Lillian; sisters-in-law, Claudia Brustuen of Appleton and Janet (Stanley) Staples of Morris; brother-in-law, Richard Goldenstein of Bloomington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Verna Brustuen; brother, Jim Brustuen; parents-in-law, Rudy and Olive Boe; step-mother, Freida Boe; sister-in-law, Karen Goldstein.
