Roger Allen Hanson

August 28, 1931 — October 16, 2015

Roger Allen Hanson was born on August 28, 1931, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Amy (Trongaard) Hanson. He grew up in Pennock, Kerkhoven, Appleton and Benson. Roger graduated from Benson High School and, in October 1949, he enlisted in the United States Army. Roger served in combat during the Korean War, September 1950, and in Vietnam, May 1966. Roger married Margot Meilinger in Germany in 1969. They returned to Benson after Roger retired from the military, October 1973. This union was blessed with over thirty years of marriage. Roger worked at the Benson Bowler. He enjoyed music, dancing, swimming, golfing, tennis, and bowling. Roger is survived by his friend Debbie; daughter Sandra T. Allen and her husband Roger of Salinas, California; four grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Margot; his son Scott A.
