Stanley "Stan" Lloyd Glimsdal was born July 7, 1939 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of John and Ellen (Freeman) Glimsdal. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After completing the Eighth grade, Stan attended the Morris Ag School, where he graduated in 1957. Stan was a member of the Minnesota National Guard from 1957 to 1961. On August 9, 1986 Stan was united in marriage to JoAnne Christenson Kittelson. This union was blessed with over 29 years of marriage. Stan farmed North of Appleton for 35 years. Upon retiring from farming in 1992, he took a short break and then in 1993 began his 13 years working at Tyler-Case in Benson. After many years of commuting, Stan and JoAnne moved to Benson in 1998. In recent years he had worked for the City of Benson maintenance crew and helped farmers with fall tillage. Over the years Stan was involved with numerous boards, including: Cenex-Swift Co-Op Oil, Swift County Fair, Long Lake Cemetery and Hegbert Township. He was also a member of the Putts & Purs Tractor Club and the Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club. Stan enjoyed being at the lake, gardening, mowing grass, and taking bus tours. He found great enjoyment in spending his winters making wooden items for his kids and grandkids. Above all, Stan loved his family and loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Stan died on October 16, 2015 in the St. Cloud Hospital. He attained 76 years, 3 months, and 9 days of age. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne of Benson; children: Stanley "Punk" Glimsdal Jr. of Murdock, Steve (Becky) Glimsdal of Frost, Kim Stock of Granite Falls, Peggy (Kevin) Augeson of Anoka; step-children: Mark (Lyndsey) Kittelson of Glenwood, Diane (Scott Cardin) Kittelson of Starbuck, Rodney Kittelson of Glenwood; 18 grandchildren: Cody Kittelson, Jacey Joplin, Cole Kittelson, Mesa Kittelson, Cade Kittelson, Gavin Kittelson, Nathan (Shanna) Glimsdal, Patrick Glimsdal, Mandy Augeson, Brianna Augeson, Jacob (Whitney) Stock, Zach Stock, Jordan (Ashley) Stock, Evan (Chelsea) Stock, Beth Stock, Aubrey (Erik) Olson, Andrew (Alicia) Glimsdal, John Glimsdal; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Donald (Janice) Glimsdal of St. Peter and Kenny (Judy) Glimsdal of Appleton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellen Glimsdal; and daughter-in-law, Eileen (Grothe) Glimsdal. Blessed be the memory of Stan Glimsdal.
