Emmergene Frances Ehrenberg was born on February 10, 1919, in Marysland Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Viola (Hoffman) Gades. She was baptized on March 20, 1919, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township, by the Rev. H. J. Raedeke. When she was about two and half years old she moved with her family to Tara Township. She was confirmed on March 20, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township, by the Rev. Elmer Schwandt. On June 9, 1938, she was married to Ervin J. Ehrenberg, of Shible Township, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township, by the Rev. Adolph Zuberbier. They took up residence on the Rudolph Ehrenberg homestead, in Shible Township, on October 1, 1938. This was her beloved home until 2013, when she became a resident in Appleton Area Health Services - Care Center. Emmergene was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township. She was a Ladies Aid member for many years where she served in various offices. Emmergene also served as the first leader and secretary of the Appleton Zone LWML. She taught Sunday School for about 20 years, taught Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir, played in the bell choir, regularly attended Bible class, and was a member of the Christian Education Association, Appleton Circuit. Emmergene was active in the neighborhood homemakers group, 4-H club leadership, card clubs, and volunteered at Pioneer Public TV. She enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining guests, and traveling. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her joy and blessing. Emmergene died on September 23, 2015, at Appleton Area Health Services -Care Center. She attained 96 years, 7 months, and 13 days of age. Emmergene is survived by her children: Gary Ehrenberg of Appleton, ViAnn (Stanley) Keller of New Brighton, and Gayle (Gene) Roggeman of Woodbury; five grandchildren: Chad (Paula) Roggeman, Sara (Matthew) Whitesitt, Eric (Becky) Roggeman, Beth (Andy) Mork, and Jill (Greg) Ramberg; nine great-grandchildren: Emma, Anna, Andrew, and Ella Roggeman, Peyton and Lilly Whitesitt, and Anders, Neenah, and Violet Mork; sisters: Lanora Sharstrom of Waite Park and ReNata (Leo) Riley of Morris; sisters-in-law: Fern Ehrenberg of Appleton, Pearl Gades of Sartell, and Irene Gades of Benson; brother-in-law, Richard Tjosaas of Granite Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Viola Gades; husband, Ervin, on June 21, 1987; sisters: Wilma Tjosaas and Bernelda Sather; and brothers: Delmar Gades and William Gades Jr. Blessed be the memory of Emmergene Frances Ehrenberg.
