Lynette Darlene Rens

July 21, 1932 — August 4, 2015

Lynette Darlene Rens was born July 21, 1932, in Maynard, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence and Evelyn (Grove) Hoff. She was raised in the Milan area where she graduated from the Milan High School. On November 27, 1954, Lynette was united in marriage to Cornelius Rens Jr. This union was blessed with six children: Davin, Desiree, Kimberly, Natalie, Ricky, and Peter. She attended the Barthon School of Nursing. Upon earning her nursing degree, Lynette went to work in the Ortonville Hospital. Later in her career she worked at the Appleton Hospital, under Dr. Rorem and Dr. Kaufman, delivering babies, which was a high-light of her career. Lynette spent 25 years as the Director of Nurses at the Appleton Nursing Home. She retired, for a short while, and then went to work as a nurse at the State Mental Hospital in Willmar for seven years. Lynette retired againbut didn't stop working! She was active at the Maynard Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and helping others in any way that she could. Baking, sewing, and reading were some of her favorite pastimes. Lynette loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Lynette died, Tuesday, August 4, 2015, in the Clara City Care Center. She attained 83 years and 14 days of age. Lynette is survived by her husband, Cornelius (Cory) Rens of Maynard; children: Desiree Rens of Maynard, Kimberly Rens of Maynard, Natalie Olson of Atwater, and Peter (Alanna) Rens of Appleton; 5 grandchildren: Ashley Turnbull (friend, Chris), Ryan Turnbull (friend, Amanda), Brooklyn Rens, Travis and Tanna Rens, Nikki and Jessica Meyer; 1 great-grandchild, Phoenix Turnbull; brother, Charles (Kathy) Hoff of Prior Lake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Evelyn Hoff; two sons, Davin and Ricky Rens; sister, Kathryn Schuman; son-in-law, Brian Olson. Blessed be the memory of Lynette Darlene Rens
