Arden Loen, age 79, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 in Camp Lake Township. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, July 17, 2015, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls with Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Swift Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Arden Dale Loen was born September 12, 1935 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Selmer Albert and Marie Catherine (Simonson) Loen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church, rural Swift Falls. Arden was raised on the family farm in Camp Lake Township and graduated from Benson High School. On October 13, 1956 he was united in marriage to Barbara Dokkebakken at Swift Falls Lutheran Church in Swift Falls. This union was blessed with two sons: Craig and Timothy. Arden loved to farm and was blessed to be able to farm for his entire life in Camp Lake Township. He was a member of Mid America Dairymen, the Camp Lake Township Board, American Dairy Association, Glenwood Retirement Home Board and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church Council. Arden enjoyed sporting events, especially watching football, baseball, and softball. In later years, he liked to assemble John Deere puzzles. Arden had a deep appreciation for the Swift County Fair, where he helped operate the American Dairy Association malt booth for many years. Arden enjoyed his morning coffee at the town hall with his lifelong friends, playing cards and telling stories. Above all, Arden loved his family and found pleasure in spending time with his children and grandchildren. Arden died on July 13, 2015 in Camp Lake Township. He attained 79 years, 10 months and 1 day of age. Arden is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barb; sons: Craig (Janna) Loen of Cushing, WI and Timothy (Connie) Loen of Harvey, ND; six grandchildren: Jacob (Abby), Brenna, Jesse, Brooke, Abby, and Daizee; brother, Maurice (Priscilla) Loen of Blaine; sisters: Elaine (Mike) Hafner of Brooklyn Park, Vera (Don) Finnes of Glenwood, Lorna (Marlyn) Bahl of Willmar; sister-in-law, Alice Loen of Starbuck; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Marie Loen; step-father, Maurice Haugen; and half-siblings: Lillian (Elmer) Jackson, Inez (Kearney) Simonson, Rueben (Lillian) Loen; Stanley Loen, Delmer (Audrey) Loen, and Lloyd (Doris) Loen.
