Thielke Avenue Appleton, MN 56208 Graveside Service 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 9, 2015 Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Boyd, Minnesota Boyd, MN, Lac Qui Parle County Richard "Dick" Meis 1948 ~ 2015 Richard Allen Meis was born July 24, 1948, in Watertown, South Dakota, the son of Leo and Mabel (Reihe) Meis. He was raised in the Watertown, South Dakota and Boyd, Minnesota areas. Dick graduated from Boyd High School. After graduation, he entered the Army, where he served in Germany. While in Germay, Dick met Edith, who became his wife on December 23, 1970, in Erlensee, West Germany. This union was blessed with a son, George. Dick and Edith eventually moved to Appleton, Minnesota, where they lived, worked, and raised their family. Dick retired from the City of Appleton Street Department. After retirement, Dick enjoyed collecting antique radios, working on anything mechanical, and driving his '57 Chevy and his motorcycle. He was a member of the DAV and the American Legion. Dick died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Appleton Area Health Services-Hospital. He attained 66 years, 11 months, and 12 days of age. Dick is survived by his son, George of New Ulm; three grandchildren: Allison, Michael, and Matthew Meis; siblings: Robert (Angelia) Meis of Headland, AL, James (Trudy) Meis of Blaine, Gerald (Becky) Meis of Long Prairie, Carol (Tim) Heinz of Lino Lakes, Janice (Gary) Schulz of Holloway, Marlys Haugerud of Little Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith in 2012; parents, Leo and Mabel Meis; step-mother, Martha Meis; brother, Myron Reihe; sister-in-law, Becky Meis.
