Jeanette was born in Elbow Lake, Minnesota on April 30, 1928, the daughter of Jay and Alice (Degendorfer) Henrichs. She grew up in rural Stevens County and graduated from Hoffman High School. She attended Normal Training in Glenwood, and taught in Stevens and Swift Counties. On March 8, 1953, Jeanette was united in marriage to James Bernard Saunders at the Federated Church in Morris. Together they were able to share 56 years of marriage. They made their home on the second generation family farm in Torning Township. Jeanette was an active member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church. She worked beside Jim on the family farm and loved cooking, baking bread and sewing. She loved embroidery and has made many towels and pictures for others. Jeanette is survived by her children: John Saunders of Seattle, Washington, Allen (Janet) Saunders of Benson, Minnesota, Rodney (Susan) Saunders of Boise, Idaho, Steven Saunders of Portland, Oregon, Nancy (Jim) Meyhoefer of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Peggy (Doug) Heldman of Forest Lake, Minnesota; and seven grandchildren: Lauren (Lucas) Asmus, Kelly Saunders, Alex Meyhoefer, Jack Heldman, Molly Meyhoefer, Kamra Heldman and Robert Heldman. Jeanette is survived by sisters, Virginia (Gary) Brumm of Perham, Minnesota and Patsy Bludorn of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and brothers, Delbert (Beverly) Henrichs of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Roger Henrichs of Huntley, Montana, and Perry (Priscilla) Henrichs of Morris, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Saunders; parents, Jay and Alice Henrichs; and her sisters, Beverly Murphy and Barbara Oletzke.
