He grew up in Windom, MN and he graduated from Windom High School in 1942. In 1944, Robert moved to the Appleton area and farmed for 71 years. He raised cattle, hogs, sheep and chickens and had a deep love and knowledge of the land that he worked. Bob was self-sufficient and could fix almost anything. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his children: Adele (Rudy) Butenas, Richard (Elida) Steinke, Patti (Aaron) Hoffmann, Robert Jr. (Lisa) Steinke; daughter-in-law, Lorie Steinke; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Nancy) Steinke; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Weber and Audrey Weber; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy; son Francis; parents, Leo and Emma; granddaughter, Angela; and son in law, Howard Johnson. Blessed be the memory of Robert Steinke Sr.
