Richard "Ric" Thomas McGinty was born July 28, 1945, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Michael Lloyd and Mary Bernice (Reynolds) McGinty. He was baptized August of 1945 and confirmed, by Bishop Alphonse Schladweiler, June of 1961 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in DeGraff. He grew up in the DeGraff and Benson areas and graduated from Murdock High School. After graduation, Ric served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from January 1966 to January 1969. When he returned from Vietnam, Ric moved out to Seattle, Washington, where he lived for 44 years. He worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 2006. After Ric retired, he moved back to Minnesota to be closer to his family. Ric was a wealth of knowledge; he could answer questions about everything and anything! He enjoyed anything outdoors, cooking, baking, crafts, history and decorating. Ric decorated for every occasion and then some! Ric had a knack for being able to sit and visit with anyone. He was always willing to help out if someone needed something. Ric passed away March 25, 2015 at his home. He attained the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 25 days. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters-in-law: Mary Margaret McGinty of Benson and Mary Jean McGinty of Glenwood; nieces and nephews: Melissa (Nathan) Thompson of Benson, Pete (Karen) McGinty of Madison, Mike McGinty of Glenwood, Shannon McGinty of Wildwood, MO, Jackie (Dan) Weiss of Eden Valley, Michelle (Bill) Stallings of Murdock, and Tom (Jana) McGinty of Murdock; great-nieces and great-nephews: Leah, Sam and Mollie Thompson, Jerod Zimbleman, Madi and Mason McGinty, Hunter Weiss, Madeline and Jacob Stallings, and Ella and Emily McGinty; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Chuck, Terry, Tim, and Kevin; other aunts, uncles and cousins.
