Dennis "Denny" Lee Schultz was born on January 10, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Frank and Rose (Scott) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm 12 miles north of Appleton, attended country school through the eighth grade, and then graduated from Appleton Area High School. Dennis served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam from 1965 to 1969. After his tour of duty, Dennis served with the United States Air Force Reserves for seven years. On November 13, 1976, Dennis was united in marriage to Joyce Faye Hadler in Benson, Minnesota. This union was blessed with 38 years of marriage. They made their home in Benson where Dennis worked for TCI for 10 years, Jennie-O Foods in Willmar for 10 years, and at CNH in Benson until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of the Benson VFW Post #1403. He enjoyed walking, golfing, fishing, traveling, woodworking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. After a courageous battle with the rare disease Pulmonary Fibrosis, Dennis was called from this life on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2015, at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane in Benson. He attained 69 years, 1 month, and 21 days of age. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce of Benson; children: Shawn (Scott) Giese of St. Michael, Tracy (Dennis) French of Brooten, Kyle of Avon, Brad of Duluth, and Roger of Melrose; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his birth mother Hazel Anderson, and his adoptive parents Frank and Rose Schultz.
