John Holland, age 67, of Appleton, died Monday at Appleton Area Health Services -Nursing Home. Funeral services will be, Saturday, March 7th, at 11:00AM, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, Pastor Michelle Rowell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11:00AM at the church. Burial will follow at the Appleton City Cemetery. John Gilbert Holland was born March 28, 1947 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Marit (Johanssen) Holland. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton on September 7, 1951 by Rev. Palmer Wold. John was raised in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School in 1967. In January of 1968 John enlisted in the United States Army. John served in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in January, 1974. After his military service ended, John worked as a meat cutter with his Uncle Don at Wilfred's Red Owl. Later, he worked for Del Dee Foods. John retired in 2010 but worked part-time for Don's Food Pride. On June 11, 1987, John was united in marriage to Patricia (Pat) Obrigewitsch at Word Fellowship Church in Appleton. They made their home in Appleton, with their dog Haylee. John and Pat enjoyed fishing together, going to casinos, and riding motorcycle. He was always available to help anyone in need. John was a wonderful and caring husband. John died on March 2, 2015 at Appleton Area Health Services -Nursing Home. He attained 67 years, 11 months, and 5 days of age. John is survived by his wife, Pat of Appleton; step-son, Kevin Lewis of Wing, ND; sister, Barbara (Joe) Fugere of Fargo, ND; 2 step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Marit Holland; step-daughter, Michelle Lewis; and a brother, Duane Johnson. Blessed be the memory of John Gilbert Holland.
