Virgil D. Baumgartner, age 90, of Appleton, died Saturday, February 7th, at Appleton Area Health Services -Nursing Home. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 13th from 5pm to 7pm at the Zniewski Funeral Home -Vaala Chapel in Appleton. No formal service is planned. Virgil Delphen Baumgartner was born September 4, 1924 in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Emma (Giese) Baumgartner. He was raised in the Holloway area and graduated from Holloway High School. He completed one year at Concordia University. Virgil was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway. He was united in marriage to Grace J. Beyer. This union was blessed with three children: Ruth, Judy, and Steven. Before his accident in 1957, Virgil enjoyed hunting and fishing. Virgil died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Appleton Area Health Services -Nursing Home. He attained 90 years, 5 months, and 3 days of age. He is survived by his children: Ruth Morgan of Monticello, Judy (Ray) Ottesen of Denver, CO, and Steven (Cheryl) Baumgartner also of Denver, CO; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Verda (Wilbert) Schuerman of Anoka; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma Baumgartner; wife, Grace; son-in-law, Joseph Morgan; brother, LeRoy Baumgartner; sister-in-law, Marge Baumgartner.
