Lois Gertrude Louise Hamann, age 89, of Benson, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church - Fairfield. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church - Fairfield Cemetery. Lois Gertrude Louise Hamann was born August 12, 1925 at home in Horton Township, Stevens County, Minnesota, to Karl "Charlie" and Augusta (Winkelman) Mesenbrink. She was baptized at home on August 16, 1925 by Rev. C.N. Anderson and confirmed June 26, 1938 by Rev. T.H. Hilgendorf at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horton Township, rural Hancock. She grew up in the Horton Township area and attended District 20 and the West Central School of Agriculture. On December 25, 1943, Lois was united in marriage to Wilbur "Bertie" Hamann, Sr. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. W.C. Barlow. This union was blessed with a son and more than 58 years of marriage. They lived on their farm in Tara Township until moving to Benson in May of 1980. Lois then moved to Scofield Place in 2004. Through the years, she was an active member of Fairfield Trinity Lutheran Church serving in the Dorcus Guild and Ladies Choir and teaching Sunday school and VBS. Lois enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards, gardening vegetables and flowers, traveling, volunteering at the nursing home, and jigsaw puzzles. Lois passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane. She had attained 89 years, 5 months, and 8 days of age. She is survived by her son, Wilbur (Mary) Hamann of Holloway; grandson, Scott (Brittany) Hamann of New Hope; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Mesenbrink of Alberta and Doris May Hamann of Granger, WA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Augusta Mesenbrink, husband, Wilbur "Bertie" Hamann, Sr. on October 5, 2002; and brothers, Archie (Ada Mae) Mesenbrink and Charles Mesenbrink.
