Alice Lorraine Pierce, age 90, of Benson, died Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston on Wednesday. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Alice Lorraine Pierce was born August 4, 1924, in Crookston, Minnesota, to Fredrich Heinrich and Marie Katherine (Wigand) Reitmeier. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crookston and grew up seven miles NW of Crookston on the family farm. Alice graduated from Tin School District No. 280 and NW Ag High School. She lived in Crookston and worked at Woolworth's Dime Store, and did bookkeeping for the Firestone Store and Bray's Ready to Wear. On April 27, 1950, Alice was united in marriage to Curtis Harry Pierce at the St. Paul Lutheran Church by Pastor Felger. This union was blessed with more than 64 years of marriage, three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. They moved to Clinton in 1952 and to Benson in 1968. Alice worked at Sears, Darold's Red Owl, and as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Wayne Peterson, D.D.S. She was a cheerleader, sang in church for weddings and funerals, was a choir member, and was active in Ladies Aide. Alice enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, reading, family entertaining, crocheting, ceramics, baking, fishing, spending time at the lake, crossword puzzles, and telling jokes. Alice passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital. She had attained 90 years, 2 months, and 19 days of age. She is survived by her husband, Curtis Pierce of Benson; children: Shelly (Doug) Rensink of Lindstrom, Bonnie (Dave) Dols of Richmond, and Valerie (Jay) Alsaker of Benson; grandchildren: John (Jennie) Rensink, Justin (April) Dols, Jeff (Sabrina) Rensink, Allison Alsaker, and Lauren Alsaker; great-grandchildren: Liam, Miles, Madison, JD, and Braelyn; sister-in-law, Doris Reitmeier of Crookston; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Fred Reitmeier; sisters, Edna Reitmeier and Helen Romuld; brother, Clarence Reitmeier; and niece, Lynn Stenlund.
