Eugene Henry Reiman, age 89, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 17, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Kucera officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 16, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Gene was born May 20, 1925 to Henry and Anna (Krienert) Reiman in Beemer, Nebraska. Gene lived on a farm and received his education at District #31 in rural Cuming County. He was inducted into the Army in 1945. He served in Korea with the 31st Infantry Division as a motor pool mechanic. He was discharged in 1946. After the service, he purchased a small service and repair shop. Gene married Veronica Wordekemper in 1951. In 1956, they moved to Minnesota and farmed for 3 years. Then he did several odd jobs before working as a Power Plant Engineer for the City of Benson and later as Equipment Operator with the Water Department. He retired after 27 years. Veronica passed away in 1992. He married Lois Madden in 1998 and lived in rural Swift County south of Benson. Lois passed away in 2009. Gene enjoyed hunting, hiking, camping, playing the accordion, repairing things and operating machinery. Gene, along with his wife, served as campground hosts at Sibley State Park since 1993. He enjoyed the outdoors, along with wildlife, and the people he met at the park. Gene's family was top priority along with his grand and great-grandchildren. Gene is survived by his children: Dan and Delaine of Shakopee, Ralph and Donna of Willmar, Bob and Cindy of Benson, Paul and Ruth Ann of Benson, Ken and Patricia of Paynesville, Kathy and Dave Eckmann of St. Paul, Linda and Jim Berens of Benson; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Niewohner of Onawa, Iowa; and step-children: Mark and Helen Madden of Benson, Brian and Sheryl Madden of Benson, Holli Marrs of Benson, and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife Veronica, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his second wife, Lois.
