Myron Forbord, 87, Benson, Minnesota, died unexpectedly October 6, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital while recuperating following successful hip replacement. Myron was born to Albert and Milla (Monson) Forbord on January 23, 1927 in Langhei Township, Pope County, north of Benson where he was raised and continued to farm his entire life. Myron attended country school through eighth grade. At Benson High School he played clarinet in the band, learned carpentry and welding, and built furniture in shop class, graduating in 1944. Myron was united in marriage to Ida Lingen on September 10, 1948 at Indherred Lutheran Church rural Starbuck. For 62 years they were loyal companions and business partners. They owned and developed their farm west of the homeplace. Their diversified farm operation was primarily dairy. It also included hogs, beef, chicken, sheep, and crops. They retired in 2009, sold the farm to Karen and Randy Mitteness, sold the Lake Minnewaska place to Miriam and Craig Lindblad, then moved to their home in Benson. Farming was Myron's lifetime passion. He was active in Farmers Union, National Farmers Organization, and Langhei Aces 4-H Club. Myron received recognition for his dairy herd from the Pope County Dairy Herd Improvement Association and was selected as Pope County's Outstanding Farm Family in 1983. He served as a school board clerk, and was an active member of Sons of Norway and sold Funk's seed corn. Myron was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of East Zion Lutheran Church where he actively served as president of the congregation as well as deacon, trustee, Luther League advisor, choir member and worked on the klub supper. Family was a priority as evident by his support at various events including: weddings, baptisms, confirmations, concerts, water ski shows, cattle exhibitions, and sports including football, hockey, basketball, and volleyball. Among the activities Myron and Ida enjoyed away from the farm were: times at their Lake Minnewaska cottage, dancing, card games, bowling, traveling to Norway, Europe, Mexico, California, Florida, Montana, Wisconsin and the Dakotas.
