Dean Owen Dokkebakken, age 75, of Benson, died Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls with Rev. Seth Novak officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in the Swift Falls Cemetery. Dean Owen Dokkebakken was born October 4, 1938 at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, the son of Vernon and Ellen (Thone) Dokkebakken. He was baptized on December 11, 1938 by Rev. G. G. Beito at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church. Dean was confirmed on June 6, 1954 by Rev. G. G. Guensten at Swift Falls Lutheran Church. He was raised on the family farm just west of Swift Falls. Dean completed grade school at District 13 and then attended Benson High School. As a youth Dean was a member of the Swift Falls Winner's 4-H Club. He was a lifetime member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Dean loved to farm. This was not just a job for him, it was his passion. He also enjoyed fixing machinery and watching Western movies. He is survived by his siblings: Barb (Arden) Loen of Benson, Winty (Diane) Dokkebakken of Fergus Falls, and Bruce (Christina) Dokkebakken of Big Lake; brother-in-law, Thomas P. Bowman of Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law, Mary Dokkebakken of Willmar; nieces and nephews: Craig Loen, Tim Loen, Tom Bowman, Teri Bowman, Tammy Aden, Corey Dokkebakken, Jamie Dokkebakken, Amy Nephew, Mike Dokkebakken, Cindy Hiam, Matt Dokkebakken, Dan Dokkebakken, Karen White, Sam Dokkebakken; other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ellen Dokkebakken; sister, Judy Bowman; brother, Lynn Dokkebakken; niece, Jana Dokkebakken.
