Pearl Virginia Dehne was born November 10, 1921 at the Swan Lake Township home in Stevens County. Her parents were Albert and Marie (Lee) Maanum. She was baptized December 19, 1921 and was confirmed on December 1, 1935 by Rev. Quammen both at Nora Lutheran Church in Pope County. She attended rural country school at District 34 through the eighth grade and later attended West Central School of Agriculture at Morris graduating in 1940. Pearl grew up in Swan Lake Township, Stevens County. She was active in 4-H Club and Luther League exchange programs. On September 18, 1941 she was married to Gilbert Victor Dehne at Pearl's parents' home by Rev. Osul Haaland in Stevens County. They lived in Moyer Township, Swift County for many years. Pearl and Gilbert celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September 18, 1991. Gilbert passed away June 29, 1992. February 1, 1999 Pearl moved to Grandview Apartments in Morris. She was busy with volunteer work and other activities. She moved to West Wind Village August of 2011. Pearl's hobbies were baking, gardening, traveling, 4-H, and helping out wherever needed. She enjoyed music, good movies, playing Bingo, and sending greeting cards to her family and friends. She also liked to play the piano, being active in Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, and spending time with her family. Pearl's family enjoyed her potato salad, baked beans and banana bread. Pearl died on Wednesday evening, September 3, 2014, at West Wind Village in Morris. She had attained the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 23 days of age. She is survived by four children: Gary Dehne, Judy Swanson of Fridley, Wayne (Barbara) Dehne of Alexandria and James (Judy) Dehne of Holloway; eight grandchildren: Dawn (Marty) Lien, Micheale (Normand) Pomerleau, Toni Swanson, Jake (Kristen) Dehne, Jason (Danelle) Dehne, Justin (Robyn) Dehne, Joel (Melissa) Dehne, and Sharein (Mike) Berninghaus; 12 great-grandchildren: Patrick Pomerleau, Sarah Pomerleau, Rachel Pomerleau, Lauren Dehne, Benjamin Dehne, Sarah Dehne, Logan Dehne, Jack Dehne, Samantha (Ben) Rau, Bryce Berninghaus, Amber Dehne, and Abby Dehne; one great-great-grandchild Wesley Rau; her sister Iola Stark; her sister-in-law Hazel Kalmoe; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert; her son-in-law, Dennis Swanson; her sister Mildred; her brother Orlin Maanum; her brother-in-law Virgil Stark; and her sister-in-law Helen Maanum.
