Yvonne Johnson, age 85, passed away on July 30, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Yvonne was born on February 10, 1929 to Ernest and Algona (Dittbenner) Nelson in Fargo, North Dakota. She grew up in Bertha, Minnesota and graduated from Benson High School in 1946. She was baptized on June 30, 1930 in Lamberton, MN and confirmed June 13, 1943 in Benson, MN. Yvonne worked at Swift County Bank and for Frank Barnard before she was married. Yvonne married Walter G. Johnson on November 15, 1947 in Benson, MN. They lived together on "the farm" from 1947 - 2012. This union was blessed with three daughters, five granddaughters and seven great grandchildren. Yvonne's joy in life was her family. Her family is grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind. Her love for Christ and His church was evident in all areas of her life. Yvonne spent time serving the Lord and fellowship with others in LCW, Bible studies, Circle, and as the Trinity librarian. Yvonne's hobbies included Homemakers Club, reading, coffee parties, dancing, spending time with family, visiting the elderly, sewing & crafts, cards, and traveling on Rustad bus trips. Yvonne was not only loved by many, but also enjoyed by all! She was always positive, grateful and content. Her sense of humor was with her always and everywhere. Yvonne is survived by daughters Lynnea (Bob) Pritchett, Lori Tostenson, and Janalee (Ross) Haugen; granddaughters Heather (Dave) Jensen, Alison (Tony) Stinar, Angie Pritchett, Jenny (JR) Trump, and Emily (Andrew) Vennerstrom; great grandchildren Halle, Isabelle and Blake Jensen, Jackson and Lincoln Stinar, Kinsley Trump and Lydia Vennerstrom; brothers Keith (Janey) Nelson and Kenny (Mary) Nelson. She is preceded in death by husband Walter G. Johnson and parents Ernest and Algona Nelson. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5th at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 700 Nevada Avenue, Benson, Minnesota. A visitation will also be held at Trinity on Monday, August 4th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and one hour before the funeral service.
