Donald Paul Opp was born June 21, 1924 on the family farm in Hegbert Township, the son of Alfred & Ella (Menge) Opp. He graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1942. Donald married the love of his life, Marion Elaine Osterman, October 6, 1949 in Hancock, MN. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage and raised three wonderful children: Diane, Ron, and Joyce. His occupation was farming. He and Marion farmed by Appleton for many years. In later years they moved to Morris. Donald was a member of the Methodist Church in Appleton & Morris. He served on the Shible Township board. Donald enjoyed playing cards, using his computer, riding around the countryside, fishing, reading, gardening, and visiting with friends & family, including family in Germany. He loved to laugh & tell stories. Donald was a very kind and gentle soul who willingly accepted change. He enjoyed learning new things, including Facebook. Donald was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He is survived by his daughters: Diane (Dave) Samuelson of Maplewood, Joyce (Jim) Horton of Carnation, WA; daughter-in-law, Barb Leuthe of Woodbury; 4 grandchildren: LeeAnn Samuelson, Aaron Samuelson, Andrew (Kelly ) Opp, Tim Horton; 1 step-grandchild, Caitlin (Dan) Marty; 2 great-grandchildren: Kyndra Davis, Andrew R. Opp; 3 step-great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Kirchknopf, Isaac & Sawyer Marty; 3 sisters-in-law: Donna Opp of Minneapolis, Carol (Art) Durkee of Morris, Norma Osterman of Morris; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marion in 2007; his son, Ron, in 1987; parents, Alfred and Ella Opp; brother: Herbert; sisters: Lillian Wendland, Margaret Pritchard.
