Frances Ione Kottke, age 86, formerly of Benson, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia, Minnesota. Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be held in the Benson City Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation will be held 9:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Frances Ione (Goulson) Kottke was born November 14, 1927 to Gerhard and Minnie (Christenson) Goulson in Swift Falls, Minnesota. She was baptized December 30, 1927 by Rev. T. Jenson at the West Bend Lutheran Church in Benson. She was confirmed June 1, 1941 by Rev. Melvin Kaatrud at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson. She grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1945. Frances married her high school sweetheart, Milton R. Kottke, on September 22, 1952, at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. H.S. Nashiem as the officiant. They moved to Minneapolis and raised four children. Frances worked for First Bank (U.S. Bank) and retired in 1984. She and Milton built a home in New Hope, Minnesota in 1965, where they lived for more than 20 years. Frances enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, music and musical theater, and was a sports fan of her children and grandchildren's sports and the Twins. Frances passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia, Minnesota. She had attained 86 years, 6 months, and 7 days of age. She is survived by her children: Patrice (Gregg) Hemken of Champlain, Lisa (Jay) Roddy of St. Bonifacius, Michael (Tamra) Kottke of Minnetonka, and Jon (special friend, Rhonda Ahnberg) Kottke of Brookings, SD; grandchildren: Christina Kelly, Anthony Hemken, Christian Roddy, Noah Roddy, Angela Zappa, and Frances Kottke; great-grandchild, Connor Kelly; sister, Deloris Schaaf of Benson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Kottke; parents, Gerhard and Minnie Goulson; brothers, Arnold Goulson and Orville Goulson; and sister, Marlys Erdahl.
