Erick Leo Fischer

July 8, 1937 — May 21, 2014

Erick Leo Fischer was born on July 8, 1937, in Glenwood to Paul and Minnie (Hoff) Fischer. He was baptized July 18, 1937, and confirmed on June 10, 1951 both at St. John's Faith Church at Villard. Erick graduated from Villard High School in 1955 and then proudly enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 1955 and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1963 as a staff sergeant. He married Marilyn Kalmoe on July 11, 1964 and together they had a son. He married LaVay Olson on November 25, 1970. Erick started Erick's Construction in Benson, building and remodeling many homes in the area over the years. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandsons and especially loved to dance. Erick died on Wednesday morning, May 21, at the Swift County-Benson Hospital. He had attained 76 years, 10 months, and 13 days of age. He is survived by his son, Steven (Kathleen) Fischer of Horace, ND; three grandsons: Jacob Fischer of Colorado Springs, CO and Andrew and Zachary Fischer of Horace, ND; sister, Mamie Chilan, of St. Paul; brother, David (Leila) Fischer, of Glenwood; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents.
