Robert Allen Dahl was born March 9, 1931, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Harry C. and Dorres (Frederickson) Dahl. He was baptized in Willmar and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. He grew up in the Willmar and Murdock area and graduated from Murdock High School. On July 28, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Colletta G. Commerford by Rev. W.P. Walsh at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. This union was blessed with eight children, twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Robert was a very proud Marine and served as a United States Marine from 1951 to 1954, during the Korean War, and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He worked in the insurance business for 35 years, including operating the Dahl Agency. He belonged to the VFW Post # 2818 in Murdock, was a Boy Scout Leader, and coached Summer Youth Baseball. Among the things Robert enjoyed were sports, hunting, yard work, gardening, and politics. Robert was called from this life on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. He attained the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 9 days. Robert is survived by his wife, Colletta of Murdock; children: Jeff (Joanne) Dahl of Vail, AZ, Don Dahl of New Hope, Steve (Kari) Dahl of Ramsey, Dan Dahl of Willmar, Colleen (Paul) Herrian of New London, Bobbi Jo (Steve) Gunz of Andover, and Mike Dahl of St. Cloud; twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorres Dahl; step-mother, Violette Dahl Croonquist; and daughter DeAnne Dahl.
