Everett Selmer Eye, age 94, of Benson, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. Gary Brandenburg officiating. Interment will be at the East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Everett Selmer Eye was born April 17, 1920 in Lorne, Minnesota, the son of Clarence and Clara (Gustafson) Eye. He was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. He grew up in the Hanley Falls area on the family farm and graduated from Hanley Falls High School in 1939. On January 2, 1944, Everett was united in marriage to Sylvia Skalbeck at the First English Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Their union was blessed with more than fifty-three years of marriage, two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Everett enjoyed farming for a number of years and worked as a machinist for Victor Fluid Power in Granite Falls until he retired in 1984. He was an avid fisherman; pheasant and deer hunter; and enjoyed watching and playing baseball. Everett passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. He attained 94 years and 19 days of age. He is survived by his children, Jane (Jack) Kjos of Benson and DeWayne Eye of Benson; grandchildren, Heidi (Dave) Christensen and Andrew (Julie) Kjos; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Mark and Elin Kjos. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; parents, Clarence and Clara Eye; and brothers, Ervin Eye and James Eye.
