Norman LeRoy Nelson, age 83, of Appleton, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:30PM, Saturday, April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, with Pastor Tim Renstrom officiating. Visitation is for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at the Appleton City Cemetery. Norman was born at home in Moyer Township, Swift County, Minnesota on March 6th, 1931 to parents William and Marie (Kohler) Nelson. He was baptized at home and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township. Norman attended the Holloway Country School in Fairfield Township. During his working years he was employed by Heinecke Farms and Ervin Emde. On August 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to Hannah "Joyce" Bryan. Norman loved the outdoors, especially hunting, trapping, and fishing. He enjoyed playing cards and BINGO. Norman was an avid movie watcher and faithfully attended the Swift County Fair. Above all, Norman treasured time with his family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Billy Nelson of Holloway; sister, Emma Radcliff of Appleton; sister's-in-law, Florence and Gloria Nelson of Appleton; brother-in-law, John Bryan of Peoria, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 2008; his parents, William and Marie Nelson; brothers: Andrew, Gordon, and Raymond Nelson; sisters: Alice Clark, Minnie Bryan, and Alta Peterson.
