Archie Brott was born February 2, 1924 in Esterville, Iowa the son of Archie Brott, Sr. and Nellie (Call) Brott. He was confirmed in May of 1947 at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa. Archie served as a cook in the United States Navy during World War II from May 8, 1944 to April 2, 1946. He farmed in South Dakota and Minnesota and worked at John Deere Implement until he retired in 1975. After retirement, Archie worked at Redball and helped farmers. During his lifetime, Archie had a love for farming, fishing, traveling, woodworking, playing cards, dancing, his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was united in marriage to Verna Elaine Schroeder on May 11, 1947 in Greene, Iowa. From this union they were blessed with more than 66 years of marriage; four children: Judy (Ron) Overlie of Danvers, David Brott of Arvilla, North Dakota, Diane (Robert) Overlie of Benson, and Joe (Gwen) Brott of Deere Lodge, Montana; fourteen grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Archie was called from this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Homestead Place North in Benson, Minnesota. He attained the age of 90 years and 10 days. Archie is survived by his wife, Verna; children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and ten brothers and sisters.
