Ethel Norma Krupke was born in Tara Township, Swift County, on August 24, 1921, the daughter of Gust and Emma (Hoffman) Gades. She was baptized September 25, 1921 by Pastor H.J. Raedake at Fairfield Lutheran Church. Ethel was confirmed on April 14, 1935, also at Fairfield Lutheran Church, by Pastor P.E. Schwandt. On July 10, 1941 Ethel was united in marriage to Alvin George Krupke by Pastor E.T. Meichsner at Fairfield Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with five children: Doris, Alice, Marilyn, Harlan, and Gordon. Ethel was a housewife, and also worked at Finger Hut and Breen's Café for several years. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, playing cards, baking and gardening. Ethel was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Ethel was called home to the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Bethesda Nursing Home in Willmar. She had attained 92 years, 5 months, and 1 day of age. She is survived by her children: Doris (Willard) Arnold of Appleton, Alice (Dennis) Rohloff of Benson, Marilyn Kussatz of Wahpeton, ND and Gordy (Annette) Krupke of New London; daughter-in-law, Diane Krupke of Benson; sister, Lydia Peterson of Benson; sister-in-law, Janice Gades of Danvers; grandchildren: Michael (Brenda) Arnold, Steven (Susan) Rohloff, Chad (Kathy) Kussatz, Lance (Renee) Krupke, Joy (Grant) Wichmann, Katie (Michael) Groinus, Brett Krupke, Kevin (Sarah) Krupke; great-grandchildren: Marcus, Jordan, and Drake Krupke, Cody, Tyler, and Bryn Wichmann, Brooks and Cohen Groinus, Jeff Rohloff, Megan (Derek) Pownell, Justin and Brandon Arnold, Courtney and Patrick Kussatz; special family friend, Verdell Olson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in 2002; son, Harlan Krupke; son-in-law, Roy Kussatz; parents, Gust and Emma Gades; sisters: Bernadine Rohloff, Florence Winter, Donna Winter, Mardell Arnold; brother, Lyle Gades.
