Loretta Marian Jacobson was born on June 2, 1926, in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Stella (Ecklund) Schirmer. She grew up in the Benson area and graduated from Benson High School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On April 5, 1945, Loretta was united in marriage with Bertice LeRoy Jacobson by Pastor Swedberg at the Trinity Lutheran Church Parsonage. This union was blessed with four children and 65 years of marriage. They farmed in Cashel Township their entire life. Loretta also worked at the Benson Hospital for many years. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking for family and friends, decorating, and gardening. She loved her husband, sons and grandchildren dearly. Loretta was called from this life on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane. She attained 87 years, 6 months, and 5 days of age. Loretta is survived by her sons, Roger (Beverly) Jacobson of Blomkest, MN, and Doug (Susan) Jacobson of Wahkon, MN; two grandchildren, Robert Jacobson and Rowen Berry; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Jacobson and Kimberly Jacobson; five step-grandchildren: Anthony Flannigan, Terry Stefen, Tammy Meyer, Jordan Woosley, and Jessica Knutson; and her sister, Sally O'Malley of Benson. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Henry and Stella Schirmer; her husband, Bertice L. Jacobson, on August 20, 2010; two sons, DuWayne and Kevin Jacobson; and grandson, Torrey Jacobson.
