Clontarf, Minnesota - Deann Kay (Chamberlain) Johnson, age 73, of Clontarf, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at the St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf, with Father William Sprigler officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Malachy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Deann Kay (Chamberlain) Johnson was born on December 5, 1940 in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Ellard Dennis, Sr. and Alice Edna (Johnson) Chamberlain. She was baptized on December 15, 1940 by Rev. Richard King, and confirmed on June 5, 1952 by Archbishop Murray at the St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf. She grew up in Clontarf and attended Clontarf Grade School, Benson High School (Class of 1958), the College of St. Benedict, and St. Cloud State. On September 10, 1960, Deann was united in marriage with David Owen Johnson at the St. Malachy Catholic Church by Rev. Richard King. This union was blessed with two children, four grandchildren, and more than 53 years of marriage. She and Dave lived in Minneapolis from 1960 - 1967 where she was employed at Music Service and Dayton's. In 1969, she and Dave founded their family business, Johnson Fertilizer Service, in Clontarf. They worked side by side for many years and now the next generation of Tom and Tracy and Jim and Wendy continue the family business. Deann enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and at Lake Linka. She enjoyed traveling, creating fun memories and new friendships along the way. She served on the St. Malachy Altar Rosary Society and the Swift County Benson Hospital Auxiliary. Deann was called from this life on Thursday, December 5, 2013, peacefully at home. She attained 73 years of age. Deann is survived by her husband, Dave Johnson, of Clontarf; children: Tom (Tracy) Johnson and Jim (Wendy) Johnson, all of Clontarf; four grandchildren: Michael, Kevin, Danny, and Allison Johnson; sisters: Nadine Marsnik of Crystal, MN, and Molly Hanson of Maple Grove, MN; sisters-in-law: Mary Chamberlain of Clontarf, MN, Pam Torgerson of Shakopee, MN, and Donna Plautz of Pequot Lakes, MN; and brothers-in-law: Jack Leis of Santa Monica, CA, Lawrence Jr. (Lila) Johnson of Benson, MN, Daryl (Laurel) Johnson of Twin Valley, MN, Leighton (Faye) Johnson of Jesup, GA, Marlow (Sandy) Johnson of Webster, WI, Bob Richardson of Lonsdale, MN, and Don Dingwell of Huntington Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellard Sr. (Pike) and Alice (Johnson) Chamberlain; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Myrtle and Lawrence Sr. Johnson; grandchildren: Raymond, Amanda, and Baby Johnson; sister, Bea Leis; brother, Ellard Chamberlain, Jr.; brothers-in-law: George Marsnik, DuWayne Hanson, Silas Johnson, and Donald Neuhaus; and sisters-in-law: Ardis Neuhaus, Bev Richardson, and Debbie Dingwell. Memorials are preferred.
