DuWayne Carlyle Halvorson, 59, of Clontarf, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services burial will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Shalom Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. DuWayne was born on September 15, 1954 and entered into his Lord's arms on December 5, 2013 at the age of 59 years. DuWayne was born to James and Cynthia (Craig) Halvorson in Benson, MN. He was baptized at West Zion Lutheran Church; where he also was confirmed. DuWayne attended the one-room schoolhouse in Clontarf, MN, for his early years of school and then went to public school in Benson. He graduated from Benson High School in 1972. He played some football in high school, but his favorite sport was basketball. DuWayne farmed the family homestead in Clontarf with his family for all of his life. He loved the farm and was blessed to always live and work on the farm. DuWayne married Dianne (Buerskin) Halvorson on November 26, 1983. DuWayne and Diane just celebrated their 30th Anniversary with an open house given in their honor. They have two wonderful daughters; Amanda and Beth. The girls have so many amazing memories of DuWayne. They loved playing basketball with him. He always won with his awesome jump shot! He and his wife each bought a motorcycle and went on many rides with family and friends. He was also called the "Grill Master" by family and friends alike as he wrote the book' on making an awesome BBQ. DuWayne shared his wife's adventure of owning a flower shop and nursery. He made so many people happy as he came to their door with beautiful arrangements and plants. DuWayne is a member of Shalom Lutheran Church family in Starbuck. He knows and loves the Lord Jesus as his Savior. We are so blessed to know DuWayne is with Jesus now. DuWayne is survived by his loving wife Dianne; daughters, Amanda (Aaron) Grussing of Clontarf and Beth Halvorson of Benson; brother, Charles (Kathy) Halvorson of Clontarf; cousins, Craig Hibbs of Phoenix, AZ and Jerry (Sharon) Halvorson of Bloomington, MN; the Buerskin Family: Dan, Carolyn, Barb, and Mike; nephews and nieces: Danny (Britt) Buerskin, Dan (Jamie) Halvorson, Robyn (Justin) Dehne, Joe (Ashley) Baratta, Tim and Tony Buerskin, Jacob Buerskin-Kleman, and Alex Halvorson; great- nephews and great-nieces: Calista and Zion Buerskin, Zoe and Dugan Halvorson, Sarah Dehne, and Carson Baratta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Cynthia Halvorson; sister, Sarah Halvorson; and his aunt, Mille Halvorson.
