Roger Lenoyd Gronholz was born October 14, 1929, to parents Paul E. and Martha (Radtke) Gronholz at their farm home in Shible Township, Swift County. He was baptized November 1, 1929, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton and was confirmed on April 18, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township. Roger attended rural school at District 56 for grades 1-8 and then attended Appleton High School and graduated in 1947. After graduation he farmed with his father. On December 30, 1950, he was married to Margaret Anderson at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. After their marriage they continued to farm the family farm in Shible Township until Doug and Karen and Brett moved there in 1982. Roger and Margaret then moved to the Lubenow farm at 220th Ave, NW. Roger was on the school board of District 56 in Shible Township until it closed and the students went to Appleton. He was on the Appleton Co-Op Elevator board and the Swift County Fair Board for many years. He was also a member of the Shible Township Board for many years and held many offices at Trinity Lutheran Church. Roger died on Saturday afternoon, November 30, at Appleton Area Health Services. He had attained the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 16 days. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Appleton; two children: Peggy (Bob) Vesterby of Olivia and Doug (Karen) Gronholz of Appleton; four grandchildren: Jodi (Mike) Shelhamer, Kristi (Josh) Kranz, Brett Gronholz and Ryan (Jodi) Gronholz; eight great-grandchildren: Liam, Rowan, Eli and Clara Shelhamer, Libby and Jocelyn Kranz, and Harper and Ainsley Gronholz; five sisters-in-law: Fran Torstenson, Ionne O'Connors, Ruth Anderson, Lil Anderson, and Barb (Bill) Andreason; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Morris and Archie; his sister and brother-in-law Lois and Ed Bergersen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Evelyn and Vern Larson; five brothers-in-law: Joel Torstenson, Ralph O'Connors, Philip Anderson, Charles Anderson, and Doug Anderson and his wife, Lois.
