Robert Williams McKewin was born April 20, 1924, in St. Paul to George and Edda (Williams) McKewin. He graduated from Breck High School. Later he received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota where he also received his Master's Degree in Educational Psychology. He also received an honorary doctorate in geriatrics. Bob McKewin was a Christian man spending most of his life serving as an Episcopalian priest. Imperfect, but tried to live his faith, particularly in relation to God's children - no matter their faith, race, age, state of brokenness - God loves all equally, and that is what he tried to reflect in his own life. He was active in ministry until his final days. His particular passions were Bible study, prison ministry, love and care of children, travel and writing. His books, Behold the Man and Home Sweet Home can be found on Amazon.com and additional writings are posted with the Minnesota Historical Society's website under The Greatest Generation. He was active in The Order of the Masons, most recently at Sunset Lodge in Montevideo and Lebanon Lodge in Shakopee. Robert died on Thursday evening, October 31, 2013, at Appleton Area Health Services. He had attained 89 years, 6 months, and 11 days of age. He is survived by six children: Marylynn (Molly) (Don) Voita of Mesa, AZ, Barbara McKewin of Appleton, Daniel (Karen) McKewin of Anchorage, AK, Thomas McKewin of Minneapolis, Vivian McKewin of Minneapolis, and Steven (Barb) McKewin of Coon Rapids; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Lynette Kimble, of St. Paul; many other relatives, foster children, and friends.
