Naomi Mertis Rau was born on December 13, 1922 to Fred & Lc (Whaley) Rau, Columbia Heights, MN. She was baptized in 1923 and graduated from Appleton High School in May, 1940. She was united in marriage to Leo Merle Miller the following month on June 9, 1940. There were six children born to this union. The family lived in rural Herman, MN. They moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1956 and retired at their lake home on Big Chippewa, near Brandon, MN. They lived their final years in Morris, MN. Leo passed away on July 13, 2009. Naomi loved her flowers and gardening, the continuous flow of family and friends that dropped in for coffee and a visit, and traveling when they could. She always enjoyed reading her Bible. Naomi is survived by four sons: Roger of Kapa'a Town Kauai, HI; Gary (Lucille) of Plymouth, MN; Dale (Marti) of Bozeman, MT; Mark (Kimberly) of Joice, IA; and one daughter, Carol Jean (Dennis) Aslakson of Lincoln, NE. Daughter Darlene (Harold) Ovnan of Perley, MN preceded her in death. Eighteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews are a part of her lineage. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth (Warren) Hickey, Mpls., MN and two brothers, Merlin Rau and Donald (Alois) Rau of rural Kensington, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Cleone Brustuen, Geraldine Maanum and an infant sister. Naomi went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Skyview Court, Morris Minnesota.
