Donald Lowell Neuhaus was born on October 28, 1927 in Swenoda Township, Minnesota to Emil John and Laura Christine (Larson) Neuhaus. He was baptized on November 24, 1929 by Pastor Paul Priess and confirmed on May 4, 1941 by Pastor Erwinn Shroeder at St. John's Church in Grace Township. Donald grew up in Swenoda Township, and attended District #49 country school. He served his country as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy from March 1946 - December 1947. On December 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ardis Vyonne Johnson by Rev. J. G. Swedberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. This union was blessed with more than 56 years of marriage, five children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Donald worked in Benson at Culligan Soft Water for 29 years, Johnson Fertilizer for 13 years, and farmed. He was a member and served as Head Usher at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Donald enjoyed spending time with family, bird watching, feeding squirrels, gardening, playing cards and dominos, and hunting. Donald was called from this life on September 23, 2013 at his home. He attained the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 26 days. Donald is survived by his children: Cynthia (Lee) Offerdahl of Lakeville, MN, Alonah (Patrick) Kellner of Benson, MN, Gregory Neuhaus of Benson, MN, Scott (Stacey) Neuhaus of Grove City, MN, and Heidi (Randy) Hoffman of New York Mills, MN; grandchildren: Ashley (Jason) Hughes, Nathan (Angie) Offerdahl, Kristopher (Brittany) Kellner, Nicholas Kellner, Joe Batchelor, Evan Hoffman, and Haley Hoffman; great-grandchildren: Madison Hughes, Aiden Hughes, Chaise Kellner, and Maxwell Offerdahl; brother, Duane (Doris) Neuhaus of Murdock, MN; and sister, Beverly (Jim) Mead of Minnetonka, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis on March 17, 2008; parents, Emil and Laura Neuhaus; sister, Barbara Connelly; brothers, LaVerne and Ronald Neuhaus; sisters-in-law, Beverly Richardson and Debra Dingwell; and brother-in-law, Silas Johnson.
