Clara Louise Reuss was born July 13, 1923, in Edison Township, Swift County, to parents John and Frances (Rudnick) Kashmark. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edison Township. Clara attended country school and graduated from Appleton High School in 1941. After graduation Clara began working for the J. C. Penny Store in Appleton in 1944 and worked there until 1963. On November 26, 1949, she was married to Virgil Martin Reuss at St. John's parish in Appleton. After Virgil's death on April 2, 1984, Clara continued to enjoy many church dinners, fish frys, and shopping with her special friends: Norbert and Mildred Eischens, Ina Nelson, Marlys Kashmark, and Ella Miller. She was a long time member of St. John's Catholic Church where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society and was lead singer for the St. John's church choir for many years. Clara enjoyed singing, dancing, crocheting, and playing the accordion and organ, which she played by ear. Clara had a great love of her family, had a fervent faith, and was a role model to her nieces and nephews to place and keep Christ first in their lives. She was respected for her ability to make everyone special as Christ made each of us special. Clara died on Wednesday evening, September 18, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had attained 90 years, 2 months, and 5 days of age. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Reuss, of Eden Prairie; 27 nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Clara is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; four siblings and their spouses: John and Evelyn Kashmark, Edward and Lorraine Kashmark; Bernice (Blanche) and Howard Bahl and Tracy and Albert Rebehn; nieces and nephews: Julie Rebehn Mullins, Barbara Kashmark Anderson, Chris and Jay Brundage, Deanna Kashmark, and Charles Kashmark.
