Charles Stanley DuVall was born August 15, 1928, at Benson to Thomas and Ella (Gilbertson) DuVall. He attended school in Montevideo and later received his GED. At the age of 16 Charles joined the US Air Force and served for six years. On March 19, 1950, he was married to Bonna L. Johnson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. After his military service they lived in Granite Falls for six years where he worked for the Granite Falls Co-Op. After this they moved to Stillwater and he worked for Midland Co-Op there for six years. They then moved to Appleton where Charles worked for Midland Co-Op for 12 years. After leaving Midland he worked for RBA/Stouffer Seeds in Benson and Danvers. His last employment was at Del Dee Foods where he worked for six years before retiring in 1995. Charles liked working in his yard and garden, feeding birds, caring for stray cats, and was an avid reader. He loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed shooting at the Sportsman's Club and watching the history, military, and CNN channels. He always had a cat or dog for company and loved to talk politics. He was a long-time member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Appleton Sportsmen's Club. Charles was a good listener and gave good advice. He was very knowledgeable on many subjects and liked to have fun. Charles died on Monday, August 12, at Appleton Area Health Services. He had attained 84 years, 11 months, and 27 days of age. He is survived by two children: Debra (Gregory) Schwandt of Great Falls, MT and Brian (Laura) DuVall of Montevideo; five grandchildren: Nicole (Justin) Fuggitt, Charles DuVall, Katlyn DuVall, Leah (Jarrod) Schwandt-Dunn, and Briana Kottke; sister, Irene Schrapp, and brother, Lloyd DuVall, both of Dallas, TX; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonna, on October 27, 2006; and two brothers: Bruce and Thomas Duvall.
