Leonard Lloyd Laurance Mills, Jr., 67, of Clontarf, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Swift County Benson Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 05, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m., at the St. Malachy Catholic Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. Leonard Lloyd Laurance Mills, Jr. was born on March 18, 1946 in Benson, Minnesota to Leonard Lloyd and Florence Marie (Johnson) Mills. He was baptized on April 16, 1946 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clontarf, and later confirmed there as well. Leonard grew up in Clontarf and Benson. He attended Clontarf School through eighth grade, graduated from Benson High School in 1964, and then attended St. Cloud State. On August 30, 1969, he was married to Patricia Lee Mazurek. This union was blessed with more than 43 years of marriage, two children and eight grandchildren. Leonard served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge for high blood pressure. Leonard worked for Lucky Sales as a pinball/vending machine operator until 1971. He obtained his plumber's license and then worked for Hawley's Plumbing and Heating in Benson for over 25 years. In 1996 he then worked for Parkview Manor in Benson as maintenance/caretaker until his retirement in 2011. He enjoyed watching football and spending time with his family and friends. He rarely missed his weekly AA meetings, not only for himself but also for any new comer that he could offer encouragement. He was proud of every year he maintained his sobriety, over 35 years. Leonard is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Travis (Chrissy) Mills, of Albertville; daughter, Janeen (Tony) Osterbauer, of DeGraff; eight grandchildren: Meghan, Brandon, Madison, Tanner, Mackenzie, Mason, Chase, and Maddex; and sister, Jane (Loran) Knack, of Nisswa. He was preceded in death by his father, in January of 1971; his mother, in October of 1993; three siblings in infancy; and a sister, Jean Motzko, in January of 2013.
