Helen Theresa Paulson was born May 12, 1919, at Madison, MN, to Edwin S. and Clara M. (Mikkelson) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church. Helen attended country schools and graduated from Appleton High School in 1939. On September 11, 1948, she was married to Wilbur J. Paulson at Marshall. Helen worked mainly as a homemaker. She also worked at Bruno's Café after the boys started school and worked there until her retirement. As her sons fondly recall she was "a mother second to none" She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was active with Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and the church circles. Helen enjoyed Hardanger, ceramics, listening to music, flowers, going on trips, gardening, baking, and visiting with friends and family. She is survived by two sons: David J. Paulson and Mark (Debbie) Paulson both of Appleton; grandson, Allen (Becky) Paulson; step-grandson, Matthew Senske; three great-grandchildren: Brooke, Gavin, and Isabella Paulson; a nephew, Merlyn (Joan) Hanson; three nieces: Lois (Art) Kunde, Patricia (Richard) Ballman, and Debra Lund; cousins and other relatives. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Clara Lund; husband, Wilbur, on January 18, 2006; daughter, Kathryn; an infant sibling; two sisters: Evelyn Olson and Phyllis Lund; and two brothers: Arnold Lund and Curtis Lund
