DeGraff, Minnesota - Stella J. Kalthoff, age 68, of DeGraff, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the St. Bridget's Catholic Church in DeGraff, with Father William Sprigler officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, with a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the St. Bridget's Catholic Church in DeGraff on Saturday. Stella J. Kalthoff was born on October 29, 1944 in Richmond, Minnesota, the daughter of Roman and Thersa (Gruber) Klehr. She attended grade school in St. Martin, high school in Paynesville, and nursing training in Litchfield. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Martin's Catholic Church. On May 23, 1964, Stella was united in marriage with Roman Kalthoff. This union was blessed with two children and 49 years of marriage. They lived in St. Martin from 1964 - 1976 and Stella worked at the Melrose Hospital and Albany Hospital. In 1976, they moved to DeGraff, in Swift County, and she worked at the Benson Hospital until retirement in 2011. Stella enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and flowers. She loved spending time at the lake. Stella was called from this life on Monday, June 10, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family. She attained 68 years, 7 months, and 11 days of age. Stella is survived by her husband, Roman Kalthoff, of DeGraff; daughter, Michelle Hughes, of Monticello; son, Russell Kalthoff, of Danvers; four grandchildren: Ashley Kalthoff, Kylie Kalthoff, Kamri Kalthoff, and Mitchell Hughes; great-grandchild, Kaylee Jensen; mother, Thersa Klehr, of St. Martin; four sisters: Janice (Joe) Garding, of Albany, Cyrilla (Norman) Euteneuer, of Albany, Lori (Randy) Ostendorf, of Melrose, and Mona (Roman) Torborg, of Richmond; and brother, Larry (Lisa) Klehr, of Cold Spring. She was preceded in death by her father, Roman Klehr; her grandparents; sister, Shirley Hettwer; and brothers, Ronald Klehr and Dennis Klehr. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
