Murien A. Sonsteng, age 85, of Benson, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane in Benson, Minnesota. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 10, 2013, at the East Zion Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck, with Rev. Jacqueline Harvestine officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the East Zion Cemetery in Langhei Township, Pope County. Murien A. Sonsteng was born in Glasgow, Montana to Clarice L. (Avok) and Carl J. Sonsteng on October 19, 1927. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in the early 1940's in Opien, Montana. Murien grew up in north-east Montana at Larslan where he attended county school and graduated from Nashua High School. Murien was a very good student, but he would never say that anyone. He was a humble soul. After graduation in 1945, at the age of 17, his parents moved the family to Minnesota, bought a farm in Pope County, and Murien and his brothers worked on the home place. He enjoyed cattle, loved farming, was a work-a-holic that loved to mow grass, and had to do at least one project every day. Murien loved to keep busy. He loved wildlife and hunting with his brothers. He was called from this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane in Benson. He attained the age of 85 years, 7 months and 15 days. Murien is survived by his brothers, Robert "Bob" Sonsteng and Dale Sonsteng, both of Benson; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clarice Sonsteng; and infant sister.
