Arthur Rand

March 6, 1927 — April 16, 2013

Arthur (Art) Rand, age 86, of DeGraff, MN passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 16, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones. Born on March 6, 1927, in Maynard, MN, he was the son of the late Henry and Jenny (Hagemeyer) Rand. Art was baptized and confirmed into faith at the Clara City Reform Church. He attended District 37 Country School and grew up in the Maynard and Clara City area. On October 17, 1952 Art was united in marriage to Shirley (Hendrickson) Rand. He lived and worked on the family farm located near Murdock, MN all of his life. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was a member of the Murdock VFW. Art enjoyed playing cards, watching Minnesota Twins Baseball and having coffee in the early morning hours at the local café. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Rand, along with two sons; Jerome Lien and David Lien; 7 grandchildren, Dan Lien, Stacy (Mike) Otto, Jimmy Lien, Abby Lien, Art Lien, Neil Lien (fiancé Kristina Mahder) and Alyssa Lien; 6 great-grandchildren, Marcus Lien, Blake Lien, Carson Otto, Aubree Lien, Mckenna Burns and Miles Otto; 2 Siblings; Henry Rand, and Evelyn Lewis and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends. Art was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Jenny, brothers; Harm Rand and Fred Rand, sisters; Alice Knoshal and Ann Stegeman.
