Jesus "Jesse" Bretado, Jr., was born on August 7, 1936, in Laredo, Texas. He was one of four children born to Jesus Bretado, Sr., and Margarita Alcorta. Jesse was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Laredo, Texas. After completing the 10th grade Jesse found work at a local drug store to help with family expenses. In the late 1970's, Jesse and his wife Mary moved to Appleton. Jesse adopted Appleton as his home for the last 35 years. Jesse worked for the Burton Johnson potato company for many years. He was also long-time employee of Pioneer Public Television, working there in various capacities. Jesse found great joy in helping others in any way that he could. He enjoyed baseball and sight seeing in small towns. Jesse was well known and very much liked and loved by the community. He will be sorely missed. Jesse went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2013 at Appleton Area Health Services. He had attained 76 years, 7 months, and 27 days of age. He is survived by four children: Corina, Cristina, Diana, and Oscar, all of Texas; three sisters: Adelina Bretado Thompson of Riverside, CA, Elva Bretado Boubel of Laredo, TX, and Virginia Bretado Hafferty of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Jesse is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary. Blessed be the memory of Jesse Bretado.
