Roselle "Grandma Zell", the daughter of Ross David Mills and Ellen Victoria (Anderson) Mills, was born August 23, 1934 in Six Mile Grove Township. She was 78 years old and one of four children. Roselle was baptized into the Christian Faith by Reverend Schell and confirmed in 1949 by Reverend J.G. Swedeburg, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson, MN. Roselle graduated from Benson High School in 1952. On January 27, 1954, Roselle married Roger Johnson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. This union was blessed with four children: Douglas, Michael, David and Stacy. Roselle worked at the Benson Bakery, Wigfield's Department Store, helping her Mother run Ellen's Café at the Benson Sale Barn, and for 40 years she provided daycare and touched many lives that came to know her so passionately as "Grandma Zell". Among the things she loved was providing care for her grandchildren and all the other little ones in her life she considered her grandchildren. Roselle loved to cook, bake, eat lutefisk, entertain friends, canning and playing cards with family and friends. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. Following the Christmas Eve Church service, she would make a big meal followed by a rousing and mostly friendly card game of Dizzy with the family. Roselle loved baseball, all baseball as long as her beloved Minnesota Twins were playing. She knew the schedule, players and was even known to call the Twins organization and question the Managers decisions. Grandma Zell is survived by her boys: Douglas of Fargo, ND, Michael (Kathy) of Benson, David (Nicole) of Eden Prairie; daughter, Stacy Grussing (special friend Harlan) of Benson, MN; and daughter-in-law, Marsha of Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie (special friend Jon), Kaley (special friend Matt), Zachary (Teri), Brittany, Michaela, Ross, Sara, Trevor and Andrew; 2 great- grandchildren: Scarlett Johnson and Lilly Saari; her three brothers: Orie (Marilyn) Mills of Benson, Arvin (Beverly) Mills of Rosemead, CA, and Marlin "Dutchie" (Maureen) Mills of Bentley Creek, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Ellen Mills; granddaughter, MacKenzi Johnson; nephew, James "Mudd" Mills; niece, Terri Mills; nephew, Marny Mills; and sister-in-law, Mary Mills.
